Goodwood sits in rolling Downland country half an hour north of our Bognor Regis workshop, and the work here splits roughly into two camps. The first is estate-adjacent stock — cottages, converted farm buildings and country houses on the lanes around Halnaker, East Dean and the racecourse — where original boards usually want sympathetic restoration rather than replacement.
The second is the more contemporary side: kitchen extensions and open-plan reception rooms in larger houses set back from the lanes, where engineered oak over underfloor heating tends to be the right call.
