30 minutes from our Bognor Regis workshop · Covering PO20 · PO18
East Wittering is half an hour from our Bognor Regis workshop, sat on the south side of the Manhood Peninsula a mile inland from the beach. Plenty of our work here lands in the older village stock around Shore Road and St Anne's — 1930s coastal bungalows that have been extended, post-war semis going through full refurbishment, and the run of larger detached homes set back behind the high street.
Out toward Bracklesham Bay the work shifts a little — more holiday-let conversions, more open-plan kitchen-diners with underfloor heating, and the occasional pale wide-plank install in a sea-facing extension. Whether it's a parquet revival in an older village home or engineered oak across a refurbished bungalow, the brief here is usually the same: a floor that takes coastal humidity, blown sand and a long family life without trouble.
East Wittering sits a mile back from the beach, but the air still carries the salt and the same humidity swings that shape every flooring decision out at the Witterings. We lean toward engineered cores in anything within reach of the dunes — they take the humidity in their stride and don't need acclimatising — and where solid wood is the right call, typically in the older village stock, we acclimatise on site first and survey the subfloor void before quoting.
Finishes matter just as much: hardwax oils get the nod over high-build lacquers because spot-repairs are easier when sand, wet feet and a family dog do their worst.
A lot of the homes here run open-plan kitchen-diners with underfloor heating, so the engineered-over-UFH conversation is the one we have most often on Wittering surveys — moisture-meter pass first, heating commissioning cycle before laying, and pale brushed-and-oiled boards in the sample bag for anyone leaning toward a coastal look.
Seafront bungalows around Shore Road and holiday-let stock toward Bracklesham want floors that shrug off salt and damp — engineered and solid floors fitted across East Wittering and PO20.

Read moreOur work in East Wittering is anchored by the PO20 postcode — 1930s and post-war coastal bungalows around Shore Road and Stocks Lane all sit squarely inside it, with regular jobs reaching out into the neighbouring PO18 where Older village stock close to St Anne's Church and the Bracklesham Lane junction keep us busy. Around 30 minutes up from the Bognor Regis workshop — same craftsman every visit, flat-rate quotes by the job not the mile.
Whether the address reads PO20 or PO18, the East Wittering brief is the same: Darren surveys on-site, sample boards stay with you for a fortnight under your own lighting, and the install runs in a single solid stretch rather than back-and-forth day trips. It matters in places like Holiday-let and second-home stock running through to Bracklesham Bay where the subfloors and the building fabric earn a slower pass.
