Arundel is twenty minutes from our Bognor Regis workshop, and it's the kind of town where every other front door opens onto a floor worth saving. The medieval lanes around the castle — Tarrant Street, Maltravers Street, Queen Street — are dense with Georgian and Regency stock, and a fair share of our Arundel work has been lifting tired original boards, gap-filling them properly, and giving them another fifty years.
Out toward Arundel Park and the Burpham side it shifts more toward installation: engineered oak laid into kitchen extensions, herringbone reborn in the larger houses near the cathedral, parquet patched back into reception rooms that have seen decades under carpet. Different houses, same standard.
Arundel's housing stock is unusually old for a town its size — most of what we touch sits inside the conservation area, and a good chunk is Grade II listed. That means working alongside conservation officers, sourcing species sympathetic to the original build, and using hardwax oils or lime-based finishes where modern lacquers would look wrong on a 200-year-old floor.
